ASSOCIATE PROGRAM DIRECTOR POSITION AT MISSISSIPPI STATE HOSPITAL

 

Mississippi State Hospital (MSH) is seeking to fill its vacant Associate Program Director position within its Psychiatry Residency Program.

 

MSH is a licensed 382-bed state psychiatric hospital which is accredited by The Joint Commission and located in Rankin County, Mississippi. The hospital’s dedicated patient care staff consists of highly skilled and caring medical professionals, nurses, behavioral health staff, social workers, and support staff who work together to provide patient-centered care on a daily basis. Services provided include: adult and child/adolescent psychiatric treatment, substance use disorder treatment, as well as treatment provided for forensic patients.

 

Further, MSH promotes educational growth within the psychiatric field through its ACGME accredited psychiatry residency program as well as through other educational ventures and partnerships it has with entities such as nursing schools and psychology departments throughout the country. 

 

The Associate Residency Program Director is an integral role and includes the following responsibilities:

 

  • Maintain and develop resident training curricula in accordance with the ACGME’s Common Program Requirements (CPR) and Professional Standards and Requirements (PSR).
  • Formulate goals and objectives for each clinical rotation as outlined by the CPR.
  • Participate in site visits and surveys.
  • Ensure the quality of didactic and clinical education at sites participating in the program by monitoring the clinical learning and working environment (CLER) at all participating sites.
  • Assure compliance of participating sites with ACGME requirements.
  • Serve as the course director as assigned by the Residency Program Director (PD) and provide didactic lectures.
  • Serve on the Clinical Competence Committee (CCC), Program Evaluation Committee (PEC), the Recruitment and Selection Committee, and the Graduate Medical Education Executive Committee (GMEC).  
  • Coordinate outpatient experiences for PGY-3 and PGY-4 residents with various local mental health centers.

 

Minimum Qualifications: Verifiable Doctor of Medicine Degree or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Degree from an accredited medical school; completion of a psychiatry residency program; a verifiable current, unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Mississippi; and board certification in psychiatry. The applicant must submit at least three references from peers.

A physician working as an employee (not on contract) will receive benefits of health insurance, paid leave (personal, medical, and holiday), and participation in PERS (retirement system).    

 

Prior to an offer of employment, the applicant must provide a copy of a current Mississippi Medical License, have satisfactory results from a criminal background check and have satisfactory results from a urine drug screen.
